Anyone 14 years old and older with special needs can attend Night to Shine. Special needs can include people with physical, cognitive or developmental disabilities. Attendees are referred to as Honored Guests.

Each Honored Guest will be assigned a Buddy. A Buddy is the “fun ambassador” for the Honored Guest. Buddies accompany the Honored Guests and make sure they know where all the stations are located and they get the most out of the night or help them to find a quiet area if a break is needed. Also, Buddies have caregiver contact information if the caregiver is needed. 

No, you are not required to stay in the respite area, but you may want to stay. You will have opportunities for massage, manicure, board games and other entertainment options.

Anyone 14 and older can volunteer, but if you’re under 18, we require a permission slip from your parent or guardian. You do not need to be a member at Pine Grove to volunteer, this is a community event. All volunteers (18 and over) must undergo a background check to assist at Night to Shine and must attend volunteer training. This is a celebration, so get ready to have a blast!

If you’re an Honored Guest you will want to dress up, but it is not required that you dress up to attend. If you’re volunteering, your volunteer role will determine your attire. Your volunteer lead will reach out to you with this information.
